After seeing this great interview Robin Williams really won me over. He is amazing, funny and so talented. Seeing him so raw and crazy makes up for the layers of Hollywood Kitsch that sometimes, in my opinion, are too much on his movies. It also made me go back and look at these movies with other eyes as I started appreciating the ironies, thoughtfulness and fun he sneaks into his characters and acts. Inside the Actors Studio hosted by James Lipton is a „secret“ gem that presents actors infront of an audience of blooming and upstarting students of the craft and thereby captures unique moments.

The interviews are well researched and always end on a similar section of questions and an open Q&A. Most episodes are worthwhile the watch and this one with Robin Williams is hilarious and even baffles the host.

Robin McLaurin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014) was an American actor and comedian. Known for his improvisational skills and the wide variety of characters he created on the spur of the moment and portrayed on film, in dramas and comedies alike, Williams is regarded as one of the greatest comedians of all time. Louis James Lipton (September 19, 1926 – March 2, 2020) was an American writer, actor, talk show host, and dean emeritus of the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University in New York City. He was the executive producer, writer, and host of the Bravo cable television series Inside the Actors Studio, which debuted in 1994. He retired from the show in 2018.

Inside the Actors Studio

Inside the Actors Studio is an American talk show that airs on Ovation. The series premiered on June 12, 1994 on Bravo, airing for 22 seasons and was hosted by James Lipton from its premiere until 2018. It is taped at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University's New York City campus. On April 2, 2019, it was announced that the show would move to Ovation with the 23rd and final season premiering on October 13, 2019. Ovation acquired the rights to all previous seasons. The show concluded its run on December 15, 2019.
